Armenians Around the World

The Plan: April 24, 2005 - Two middle-aged American-Armenians will attempt to travel around the world, (on a tight budget!) while visiting as many, but at least one, Armenian family in each country they pass through. This blog will be a daily diary of their journey, the people they meet, and a place for followers of the trip to comment and keep touch from. The trip will end one year later, on April 24, 2006, in Yerevan, Armenia.

Welcome to Armenians Around the World!!

Hello fellow Armenians and others who are interested!

When I was a child, an elder had pointed out to me, 'you can find an Armenian (Hye) in every corner of the globe, but still no one knows who they are.'

This is true in more ways then one, and every Armenian knows it, no matter where you live. And we all come to know the different reasons why this is so as well.

We here at Armenians Around the World are not protesting, preaching or pleading, nor are we trying to battle against anything. We are doing this to connect as many diaspora Armenians and others who are interested in Armenian culture from around the world as we can, via the internet or visitation.

At this time, we are looking to get the word out on the project and the blog. More details on the actual trip will come, but for now, we'd like to hear from the Armenians Around the World;)

Tell us what country you live in, and then e-mail a link of this blog to all your friends, tell as many people as you know about the blog so that we can - hopefully - create a nice little community of...yes, you guessed it, Armenians Around the World.

The following four posts will be created for respective Armenians living in those areas to post a hello to us and each other! Tell us your name and in what country you live.

Don't forget, tell your friends about the site as well!

Thanks, hope to hear from you!!

REST OF THE WORLD - Armenians!!

We know there are plenty of Armenians in Australia, so post a hello! How about the Middle East, Africa...China, Japan...? India? Sri Lanka...? Anyone...are we missing any place? Post a hello and tell us where you are from! Post in the comments section under this post!

Our aim is to connect as many Armenians from Around the World as possible! Tell all other Armenians you know about this site, help us spread the word!

EUROPE, RUSSIA & ARMENIA - Armenians!!

This should hopefully be a large gathering as well! We know your out there! So, post a hello in the comments section under this post! Tell us what country you are in, then tell any other Armenians you know about this site as well! Help us spread the word!

Our aim is to connect as many Armenians as possible throughout the world!

MEXICO, CENTRAL & SOUTH AMERICA - Armenians!!

-Spanish speaking Armenians? There has GOT to be! Are you out there? Look, the Armenian Embassy in Canada says so;

"The Armenian community in South America, like that of Australia, arose in the early twentieth century, as a result of immigrants who had survived the genocide. Although they settled in various parts of the continent, the majority went to Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, with some moving to Venezuela and Mexico.....by the end of the 1980s there were some 70,000 Armenians in Argentina, 20,000 in Brazil, and 15,000 in Uruguay, concentrated in Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Montevideo respectively."

-So, if this is reaching you, post a hello in the comments section under the post and tell us where you are from! Tell any other Armenians you know about this site, and help spread the word!

Our aim is to connect as many Armenians from around the world as possible!

USA, CANADA - Armenians!

We know there is a lot of you out there! The USA and Canada combined probably have the most Armenians living there.

Post a hello in the comments below the post, then tell all your friends about the site too. (Especially if you know any Armenians living in other countries.)

Our aim is to connect as many Armenians from around the world together as possible before the start of the trip.
